Life, the universe and ... oh, whatever ...

Elections for a new Parliament in Norway are on the 12th of September. The "fight" between the different parties has been going on for ever and ever... I am both excited and anxious about this election because I strongly feel that Norway need a new goverment, based on the red-green alternative (Labour, Socialist Left and Centre party), but I am already getting a bit fed up with hearing and seeing and reading about the elections every way I turn. No wonder so many people choose not to use their right to vote, I mean, if I, who am actually quite interested in politics and like to be involved in it is already fed up with it, how then are the average people who don't have an special interest in politics going to keep their interest up till electionday?

I'm not really sure how it could be done differently all I know that right now it's just too much! I get emails from my local labour party in Oslo EVERY day asking me to participate in either attending the stand that they've got on Karl Johan, or knocking on people's doors handing out roses and telling them about the labour party. Even though I think that this election is perhaps one of the most important in Norwegian history ever, since it will be so determing for what sort of a society Norway will be in the future, I still don't participate like that. I have never liked missionaries, whether they try to sell me their religion or their politics, and I certainly don't want to be one myself! Besides I'm strogly convinced that people will decide what to do based partly on what they see on TV or read in the papers, but also by what friends and family vote, so strangers knocking on your door in the middle of your dinner - nahh I don't think so....

I am of course wearing the wrist band in support of a new "Red-green" governement.
